About
I am a Washington-DC Metropolitan area artist and live in the United States. I started drawing my great aunt when I was younger than 3 years old. This was the starting point for my journey into the art world. Since then, I have come a long way, from high school era when I started to paint and illustrate movie posters for my classmates and neighbors. My favorite poster was Love Story with Ryan O’Neal and Ali McGraw, which became my signature poster. I got two additional orders that year. Painting and illustration for me became the methods where I felt open, free and creative.
I love depicting my imagination within my artwork. I always try to introduce new ideas, elements and materials into my paintings and experiment with them. I feel strongly that like journalism, paintings and art have a story to tell. We look at the world from different lenses based on our bias, prejudice, experience and creativity. The personal edge that I bring into each of my paintings alters and enhances subject matter, cultivating an imaginative visual experience for the viewers. My art work sometimes takes critical social, political and cultural issues as I see them. While I use variety of media, most of my paintings are on canvas and paper. I also do digital art and photographs. I like to share my art with others and perhaps help them to live my experience. My art remains a strong contender of how I share my thoughts and ideas with someone else without talking about it. Art provided me with the possibility of changing one’s thoughts, opening new ideas, and borrowing ideas from others.
I have shown my artwork at public exhibitions scheduled in March and April of 2024 in Washington, DC and Chevy Chase, MD.
