Xmas in July- Celebrating Christmas in summer has a long history, but is getting more and more attention in recent years. It’s actually quite popular in countries as varied as Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Argentina and Brazil. One thing you’ll notice about all of these countries: they’re in the Southern Hemisphere! I did a little digging and learned that there was a line in a French opera in 1892 known as Werther which referenced “Christmas in July”. Then in 1940 a film titled “Christmas in July” was released and gained instant popularity. Suppose to be light and free, just like this painting, open and free……
