About the work

The Blues

The title depicts the woman overwhelmed in grief, with her blue scarf over her head with blue color echoing her anguished sadness. Both pint of color blue and paint brush rested on the container. I used blue as evocation of pain and suffering. Blue color paint and brush next to her as unfinished painting depict that narrow , and sadness will continue. The humming bird with blue hue color represent joy, healing and ability to live in present moment. Did you know that when hummingbirds go to sleep for the night they lower their metabolism down to near death? The scientific terminology for this is called torpor. Their entire metabolism comes to an almost complete standstill. This allows them to conserve energy and sleep. The hummingbird reminded me the vibrant cycle of life where sorrow and suffering may take us near death and back to life again.
